Sugar Season Update

This sugaring season has had a slow start.  Last year our first boil was on March 2nd.  This year our first boil was on March 12th.  We have been very busy on the farm doing sugaring and other farm related things.  Read on to have a sneak peak at what we have been up to and see more pictures from this sugaring season.

While we have been busy sugaring our friend and website designer Jen was hard at work getting our shopping page ready.  Have you seen it?  If not head on over.  Just make sure to come back and read the rest of this post.  Since that has been live we've had two orders come in.  Very exciting!!  Gotta love the flat rate boxes!

Here is a picture of the sugar house around sunset.

I believe I took this next photo when we were done for the night and we were letting the evaporator cool more quickly.

When I'm out working in the woods I can't resist taking photos.  Here are a few photos of some of our buckets.

If you look really closely you can see a drip of sap coming off the spicket.  Only took me
two tries to get that.

Sometimes if you don't get to your buckets before they are full this is what happens, espeically when it is cold outside.

Of course I love taking videos too!  This one is like music to our ears!

What else have we been up to?  Well We've got some eggs in the incubator that should hatch the end of this week.

This means there will be an over load of cute chick photos.  Woohoo!!  This is our first time using an incubator.  I have been trying to be patient.  I can't wait for there to be lots of chicks.  We are also going to do some Guineafowl.  AND we have some ducklings arriving the end of April.

We've also started some tomato plants.  We plan on fixing up our small green house so we can have early tomatos.  Yum!

Here is a picture of some canned up syrup we did for a couple orders that came in recently.

Thats all the exciting news I have for today.  Thanks for stopping by!
